Pot Profiling and How to Invite a Pullover by Police

Police are out there on our highways and byways choosing which cars from among thousands to pull over “for cause.” Ever since marijuana was legalized for recreational purposes in Colorado, license plates from that state seem to have neon signs on them. Colorado motorists aren’t the only ones with this experience. Drivers from any state that has legalized pot have become targets for pot profiling in every non-marijuana-friendly state in the continental U.S. Pot profiling can get you pulled over, through no fault of your own. You can also make personal choices that lead to pot profiling, but that’s on you.

Your License Plate and Pot Profiling

Add plenty of extra drive time to your next out-of-state adventure, if you’re from a marijuana-friendly state. Plenty of evidence shows you will be targeted because of your association with weed implied by your place of residence. Even if couldn’t identify the smell of weed if your life depended on it, police officers from more conventional states will consider you a prime target for an automobile search and possible arrest on drug charges.

Invitation to be Pulled Over

The First Amendment right to free speech is frequently carried over onto vehicles. It’s often courageous to speak out about your beliefs. But, other times, it’s stupid. If you’re all about pot, for example, you may not want to slap any of the following weed stickers on your car. If, however, you don’t mind getting to know police officers and jail cells up close and personal on a regular basis, these are perfect for you:

  • (A picture of a marijuana plant)
  • Grow Hemp and Save the Planet
  • Field of Dreams (with illustrations of marijuana plants)
  • Can’t We All Just Get A Bong?
  • A Peace-Love-Weed Sticker
  • 4:20
  • Smoke Weed Every Day (With smoke bubble letters)
  • Green arches (similar to McDonalds’) with the word “Marijuana”

Current Safe Places for a Drive

Washington DC and the following nine states are the places where you can legally smoke weed in early 2018. They are also places where your weed stickers won’t cause any problems:

  • Alaska
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Maine
  • Massachusetts
  • Nevada
  • Oregon
  • Vermont
  • Washington

Have you been Pot Profiled?

Marijuana has gotten a very bad rap for too long in the U.S. It makes no sense that pot is illegal but alcohol isn’t. Nevertheless, prepare to be pot profiled by police, whether because of your license plate, your bumper stickers, or smoke billowing from inside your vehicle.
